WHY DID I PURCHASE THIS COMPUTER:
I required and new computer for a home business. I liked the relatively low price and I particularly admired the compact size - less that half the size of the usual desktop tower.
WHAT DO I LIKE ABOUT IT:
Actually there are several items that I like. I have to tell you that the first thing I did was delete all the pre-installed programs that I have no use for. Now when I press to "on" switch I'm up a running in 14 seconds and that was after I installed Microsoft Office! Ok I did not add a password, but 14 seconds is fantastic in my book.
It has several USB ports in the front AND it is very quiet.
Windows 7 is a great improvement over XP.
WHAT I DON'T LIKE:
I had to purchase a Net Gear Wi-Fi adapter since it was not built-in to the unit, but for the price of the computer I would call this minor. I was aware that the CPU speed, memory capacity and RAM was marginalized because of the price, but again I did not want to spend a lot so that's also minor in my book.
RECOMMENDATION:
If you are in the market for a quiet, compact, inexpensive computer I would recommed that you consider this item.
I was so impressed with the quick shipping on this item. I ordered it on a Sunday and Wednesday afternoon it was on the front porch - just like they promised. I can't send a letter across town that fast!

Love my Gateway. I've owned four Gateway computers and only had minor problems. This one arrived in two days, but had a video driver problem. Had to reformat hard drive after speaking with customer service in India. They solved the problem, but it took a few hours. Now computer runs very well and no problems. It's not the fastest, but it works for my needs. I can recommend Gateway computers for the home or small business.

Had to buy a new computer and immediately returned the one I bought at a local store after struggling for hours with trying to set it up under Windows 8. Called every store in town and only Windows 8 available...I had already decided I was NOT going to deal with it on my desktop.
I was so excited to find the EXACT same computer I had returned with Windows 8 available with Windows 7 on Amazon. I was nervous about buying a computer online, but everything is fine.
It took me 1/2 hour to completely get the computer set-up and running perfect with Windows 7. This computer is fine for my needs. I have learned to buy less expensive desktops since they seem to last only 3-5 years anyway.
If you can avoid Windows 8 on a desktop DO SO...
